CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR APPOINTMENT OF UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION COMMITTEE(UEC) CHAIRMAN AND POSTGRADUATE EDUCATION COMMITTEE (PEC) CHAIRMAN

Dear Presidents and EFP delegates

We are pleased to inform you that the positions of the Undergraduate Education Committee chairman and the Postgraduate Education Committee are opened. These positions are key to the EFP Structure and are invaluable assets to our organization, as you can appreciate from the brief description of the positions presented at the end of this document. Due to this importance, I would urge you to distribute this information among members of your society in order to allow those who fulfil the required profile to present their candidatures.

Candidatures should be sent to the EFP Co-ordinator, Miss Monica Guinea (monica@efp.org) following these regulations:

1.- Expression of interest for Chairman of the Undergraduate Education Committee(UEC) should come from a candidate belonging to an EFP Full Member Society with a strong background in Education, previous experience on this type of role within their National Society and/or with experience in an executive position within the EFP. This appointment will start on the 2017 EFP General Assembly for a 3-year period (renewable for a further period of 3 years). Applications should be sent to the EFP European Coordinator office by September 30th, 2016, including a concise curriculum vitae and a statement letter from the candidate.

2.- Expression of interest for Chairman of the Postgraduate Education Committee (PEC) should come from a candidate belonging to an EFP Full Member Society, with a strong background in Education with previous experience on this type of role within their National Society and/or with experience in an executive position within the EFP. This appointment will start on the 2017 EFP General Assembly for a 3-year period (renewable for a further period of 3 years). Applications should be sent to the EFP European Coordinator office by September 30th, 2016, including a concise curriculum vitae and a statement letter from the candidate.

3.- The Executive Committee will evaluate the received candidatures and appoint a candidate who needs to be ratified by the EFP General Assembly in 2017. It is expected that elected candidates will work in close contact with the current officers in order to make a smooth transition.

We are sure you will give this matter the higher priority and will distribute accordingly this information among the members of your National Society. We appreciate in advance your support to the EFP.

General description of the two positions

 

Undergraduate Education Committee chairman:

The UEC Chairman works in close collaboration with PEC, the Executive Committee of the EFP, The General Assembly, and the different committees, as well as administrative bodies of the Federation. The candidate should have experience in undergraduate teaching and in working for curriculum improvements and updates. The main tasks are:
1. Lead the efforts to improve the undergraduate periodontal education standards throughout member countries
2. Disseminate the undergraduate guidelines from the 2009 workshop in a booklet aimed to help harmonize undergraduate education throughout Europe

 

Postgraduate Education Committee chairman:

The PEC Chairman works in close collaboration with the Executive Committee of the EFP, The General Assembly, and the different committees, especially the SAC and External Affairs. Also with the EFP European Coordinator and now with the EFP Head of Operations. There is also continuous cooperation and contact with the Directors of the 14 EFP Accredited Programs. The main tasks are:
1. Leading the accreditation process of applying programs. Leading the reaccreditation process of accredited programs and the reaccreditation when there is change in the program director position.
2. Control and monitoring of the EFP exams of graduates from the EFP accredited programs.
3. Control of the organization of the by-annual EFP students’ symposium: venue, program, budget, etc.
4. Work together with the EC and the other EFP committees towards promotion of postgraduate education in EFP member countries.
